Where a site stops being local and becomes an out-of-area engagement depends on the address and the travel it takes to reach it, and we would rather answer that for your building than publish a radius that is wrong for half the map. The list names towns, not a boundary. The communities between and around them are the same drive and the same arrangement.
The Valley is also a freight corridor. Highway 99 runs its length, and the distribution centers, cold storage, and packing houses strung along it sit within the same short drive as the school districts, city halls, and courthouses in the towns beside them. One cross-trained team covers all of it — every odor group, on one visit.
There is one difference here worth planning around. Out-of-area work carries a two-day minimum engagement; close to home there is no trip for it to cover, so a single sweep is a booking on its own, and a standing schedule of short visits is practical in a way it is not at a distance.
How an Out-of-Area Engagement Runs
The sweep itself does not change with distance. One handler and one dog work the areas you agreed, the same as they would ten minutes from home. What changes is the trip around it — and that is what the two-day minimum and the qualifier on our lead time are describing.
The Walkthrough Comes First
Nothing is booked before we agree which areas are in scope and what the dog should stay away from. Close to home that is a walk around the site; at a distance it is done over a floor plan, a site map, or a call. It is the same conversation either way, and nobody has to travel to have it.
The Team Travels to You
The handler and dog discussed in the walkthrough are the handler and dog who arrive, and that does not change with distance. You can ask to see the training and evaluation records for that exact pairing before you commit to anything.
Distance Is Why There Is a Minimum
Out-of-area work carries a two-day minimum engagement, because a team that travels that far is committed to your site for the trip. It is booked as a block of days rather than as a single visit. What those days cover — which buildings and areas, and whether a visit is scheduled or unannounced — is settled in the walkthrough.
Lead Time Depends on Distance
Lead time is under six hours, depending on distance. The second half of that is not a hedge, it is the meaning: near home the figure is literal, and several states away the honest answer is a date rather than a count of hours. You get the real one as soon as we know where the site is.
Booking a Visit, Anywhere
Visits are booked 24 hours a day, by appointment. The hour is chosen for the site rather than for us — before a shift change, overnight, across a weekend, or in the window between the last bus out and the first staff in. A building that cannot be swept during business hours is not a scheduling problem.
